In the Footsteps of Lewis and Clark
Indian Hills State Recreation Area and Resort is a part of the North Dakota state park system. On the north shores of Lake Sakakawea, which before 1953 was the beautiful Missouri River valley, one can walk the same areas as Lewis and Clark did on their history changing expedition of 1804-1806. A bridge, Four Bears Bridge, spanned the river in this area, connecting the town of Elbowoods to the north shore of the river. The town now lies beneath the lake, the bridge was moved to what is now New Town. It has since been replaced with a modern bridge. www.BeautifulBadlandsND.com
